Review
The Spanish writer Federico García Lorca once said of the "intense sadness of lullabies of his homeland", which are sung by mothers, not because they are moody, but because they follow "an ancient living tradition". The "Nana" reflects a deep-rooted in the Spanish mentality melancholy. Almost all the major composers of the country concerned almost naturally with this particularly intimate form of the song. The young Spanish soprano Carmen Solis has already made a distinguished interpreter of Italian bel canto opera and Spanish zarzuelas national and international reputation. Together with the pianist Eduardo Moreno has recorded 22 poetic Nanas 20th century by de Falla, Ginastera, Rodrigo, Torroba, Turina, among others. Solis' natural and idiomatic vocals make it a predestined interpreter of this music. A special feature of the contemporary composer Guillermo Alonso Iriarte and Jorge Montero wrote two major works especially for this collection. "Nana - Spanish Lullabies" gives a profound insight into the musical soul of Spain away from the usual clichés.
